Points Expiration
Configure automatic expiration for loyalty points earned after a set period
Overview
Set an expiration period for loyalty points to encourage customers to redeem their rewards. When enabled, points earned after the setting is turned on will automatically expire after your chosen period.
Expiration will apply to points earned going forward only. Contact support to set expiration on previously earned points.
Setup
Navigate to Subscribfy → Loyalty → Global Settings.
- Check the box Set a points expiration period
- Enter the expiration period (e.g., "12 months", "6 months", "1 year")
- Save your settings
Easy Configuration
Enable with a single checkbox and set your preferred expiration period
Forward-Looking
Only affects NEW points earned after you enable the setting
Automatic Reminders
Customers are notified one month before their points expire
How It Works
When points expiration is enabled:
- New points earned after the setting is enabled will have an expiration date
- Existing points earned before enabling are NOT affected
- One month before expiration, customers receive a reminder notification
- On expiration date, points are automatically removed from the customer's balance
- Customers continue earning new points normally (which will also expire after the set period)
Klaviyo Integration
Two events are sent to Klaviyo for points expiration:

| Loyalty Points Expired | When points are removed | Notification that points were lost |
Setting Up Expiration Reminder Emails
- In Klaviyo, go to Flows → Create Flow
- Select Metric as the trigger
- Choose Loyalty Points Expiring
- Add an email action with your reminder message
Event Properties

Balance | Customer's current total points |
Example subject lines:
- "Your points expire soon - use them now!"
- "Don't lose your rewards - redeem before [date]"
