Membership Perks
Configure VIP membership benefits: discounts, free shipping, store credits, member-only products, and free trials.
Reward your VIP members with exclusive benefits. Configure perks like discounts, free shipping, store credits, and member-only products to increase retention and lifetime value.
How to Access
Go to Subscribfy → Membership → VIP Settings → Perks tab
Available Perks
| Perk | What Members Get |

| Store Credit | Credits added after each billing cycle to spend on any product |
| Product Discounts | Percentage off on all products or specific collections |
| Free Shipping | Free shipping on all orders (with optional thresholds) |
| Member-Only Products | Exclusive access to locked products/collections |
| Free Trial | Try membership free or at reduced price before committing |
| Tiered Discounts | Bigger discounts when members buy more items |
Store Credit
Members receive store credits after every successful membership charge. They can use these credits on any future purchase.
Settings
| Setting | Description |

| Enable Store Credit | Turn on/off store credit rewards |
| Credit Amount | By default, equals membership price. Adjust with percentage (+/- %) |
| Redemption Method | How credits are applied at checkout (automatic for most stores) |
Example: Membership costs $29/month. Member gets $29 in store credits after each charge. With +10% adjustment, they'd get $31.90.
Disabling store credit stops future rewards but existing credits remain usable.
Product Discounts
Give members a percentage discount on products. The discount applies automatically at checkout.
Settings

| Stack with Subscriptions | Allow discount on recurring subscription orders too |
Discount Combinations
You can allow member discounts to combine with:
- Product discounts (sales)
- Order discounts (coupons)
- Shipping discounts
Tip: For stores with 100+ products, use collections instead of selecting individual products for better performance.
Tiered Discounts
Encourage larger orders by offering bigger discounts when members add more items to their cart.
How It Works
Create up to 5 discount tiers based on cart quantity:

Custom Labels: Add display labels like "Buy 3, Save 15%" to show in cart.
Free Shipping
Offer free shipping to all members, or set minimum requirements.
Settings

| Title | Display name at checkout (e.g., "VIP Free Shipping") |
| Description | Optional description shown at checkout |
| Countries | Limit to specific countries (leave empty for all) |

Threshold Options
- No minimum - Free shipping on all orders
- Minimum items - Free shipping when cart has X+ items
- Minimum subtotal - Free shipping when cart reaches $X
Free gift items ($0 price) don't count toward minimum item threshold.
Member-Only Products
Lock specific products or collections so only members can purchase them.
Settings

What happens:
- Non-members see locked products but cannot add to cart
- Members can purchase locked products normally
- Great for exclusive releases, member-only bundles, or VIP collections

Free Trial
Let customers try your membership before paying full price.
Settings

| Trial Price | Price during trial ($0 for completely free) |
| Trial Duration | Until next billing date or Custom days |
During trial: Members get access to all enabled perks (discounts, free shipping, etc.)
After trial: Membership automatically converts to regular billing.
Custom trial duration is only available when "Fixed billing date" is disabled.

Cart Widget Customization
The membership cart widget shows a comparison of what members get vs non-members. Customize it in VIP Settings → Widget tab.
Customizable elements:
- Primary and secondary colors
- Border style
- Perk comparison rows (checkmarks, X marks, or custom text)
- Widget titles and button text
FAQs
Can I enable multiple perks at once?
Yes! Enable any combination of perks. Members get all active perks together.
Do perks apply during free trial?
Yes. All enabled perks are available during the trial period.
Can member discounts stack with sale prices?
Yes, if you enable "Combine with product discounts" in settings.
What happens to store credits if membership is cancelled?
Existing credits remain in the customer's account and can still be used.
Can I change perks after members have joined?
Yes. Changes apply to all members immediately. Existing store credit balances are preserved.
Custom Perks
Beyond the built-in perks above, you can create custom benefits using customer tags.
Member Tags
Subscribfy automatically tags customers based on their membership status:

VIP: Active | Currently subscribed member |
VIP: Paused | Membership is temporarily paused |
VIP: Cancelled | Former member (cancelled) |
The tag prefix (VIP) matches your membership name. If your membership is called "Elite", tags will be Elite: Active, etc.
Custom Perk Ideas
Use these tags in Shopify or third-party apps to create custom benefits:
- Email flows - Create member-only email campaigns in Klaviyo
- Early access - Show new products to members first using Shopify segments
- Exclusive content - Gate pages or content for tagged customers
- Priority support - Route member tickets to VIP queue in your helpdesk
- Birthday rewards - Trigger special offers for members on their birthday
