Create VIP levels that make your best customers feel special and reward them with exclusive perks like bonus points, multiplied earning rates, and free shipping.

Quick Setup

Step 1: Open Tiers Settings

Go to SubscribfyLoyaltyTiers tab in your Shopify admin.

Step 2: Enable Tiers Program

Toggle Tiers Program Status to On.

Step 3: Create Your First Tier

Click Create to add a new tier.


All Tier Settings

Basic Rules

Name

The tier name customers will see (e.g., Gold, Platinum, VIP)

Description

Short explanation of the tier benefits

Entry Requirements

Define what customers need to achieve to enter this tier.

Points Earned (Required)

How many loyalty points a customer must earn to qualify for this tier

Minimum Purchase Amount

Total amount customer must have spent (e.g., $500 lifetime spend)

Minimum Number of Orders

Number of orders customer must have placed (e.g., 5 orders)

Note: The tier re-evaluates eligibility automatically. Customers are upgraded when they meet the criteria.

Reward Settings (Entry Reward)

Optionally reward customers when they first enter this tier.

Points

Award bonus points when customer enters tier (e.g., 100 points)

Discount Code

Give a discount coupon (see coupon options below)

Discount Code OptionsIf you choose Discount Code as the entry reward:

Amount Off

Fixed amount (e.g., $10 off) or percentage (e.g., 15% off) discount

Free Shipping

Free delivery coupon code (can limit by country)

Free Product

Customer gets a specific product free when they add it to cart

Note: Entry rewards are given only once when the customer first qualifies for the tier.

Shipping Discount (Ongoing Perk)

Give tier members ongoing shipping discounts on every order while in this tier.

Enable Shipping Discount

Turn on/off the shipping perk for this tier

Discount Value

Percentage (e.g., 100% = free shipping) or Fixed Amount (e.g., $5 off)

Checkout Shipping Message

Message shown at checkout (e.g., "VIP Free Shipping")

Delivery Names

Which shipping methods to discount (e.g., Economy, Standard, Express)

Minimum Cart Value

Require minimum cart value for shipping discount (0 = no minimum)

Note: Shipping discounts apply automatically at checkout for all orders while the customer is in this tier - not just the first order.

Advanced Rules

Point Earning Multiplier

Multiply points earned on purchases (e.g., 2 = double points on every purchase)

Restrict by Customer Tags

Include or exclude customers with specific Shopify tags

Start Date

When this tier becomes available (default: immediately)

End Date

When this tier expires (optional - leave empty for no expiration)


Tier Rollover Settings

Configure in Global Settings tab. Determines how long customers keep their tier status.

Lifetime

Once earned, customers keep their tier forever

Calendar Year

Tiers reset every January 1st - customers need to re-qualify

Rolling Year

Tiers reset X months after customer earns them

Tip: Calendar Year or Rolling Year rollover encourages continued engagement as customers work to maintain their status.

What Your Customers See

  • In their account - Current tier name, points to next tier, tier benefits listed

  • At checkout - Tier shipping discounts applied automatically with the message you set

  • When upgraded - Entry rewards (points or discount code) added to their account

  • On purchases - Points earned with tier multiplier (e.g., "You earned 200 points (2x Gold bonus!)")


Troubleshooting

Customer not in expected tier? Check their total points earned in Members. Verify tier entry requirements in Tiers tab. Remember: minimum requirements (orders/spend) are AND conditions with points.

Shipping discount not applying? Check Delivery Names setting - must match your Shopify shipping method names exactly (e.g., "Standard Shipping").

Entry reward not given? Entry rewards are given only once. Check if customer previously received the reward in their activity log.

Tier benefits not showing at checkout? Checkout extensions require Shopify Plus. Confirm Tiers Program is enabled in the Tiers tab.

Customer was downgraded unexpectedly? Check Tier Rollover settings in Global Settings. Calendar Year resets tiers on January 1st.
